Nourish to flourish
Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Classes with Bella
Prenatal Yoga Classes
Welcomes mothers from 12 weeks to term with complete beginners to practiced yogis being all welcome.
Prenatal classes will be primarily focused on supporting mothers in nourishing themselves and help with with their birth preparations with attention focused on the pelvic floor whilst facilitating supporting exercises for better mobility, flexibility, breathing and overall well being throughout the pregnancy. Together with breathing (pranayama) and adapted yoga poses (asanas) will be taught in sequences in order to ease mum-to-be during pregnancy and in labour.
Poses and sequences will be taught not only to relieve some of the pregnancy discomforts such as sciatica, heartburn, pelvic girdle pain but to also help generating stability, flexibility whilst at the same time encouraging a gentle opening of the pelvis with postures for birthing the baby.
The simple breathing exercises (pranayama) are extremely beneficial techniques which will help mothers relax both baby and mind during pregnancy and labour from first contraction.
With the aim to support mothers in building a gorgeous bond and connection between mom and baby with soothing and nourishing meditations, chants and mantras, Bella will guide the end of all classes with Yoga Nidra as a deep relaxation that will help mums-to-be really let go and enjoy the changes in their bodies as they evolve and enjoy a good bit of rest.
Postnatal Yoga Classes
Age: Newborn to just walking
This is a fun class for either Mum, Dad or carer and their baby suitable for newborns, crawlers and babies who haven’t started walking yet. Mum can come along, with baby, any time from 6 weeks after the baby’s birth if they had a vaginal labour or 8 weeks after a cesarian birth.
Dad, carer and baby are welcome whenever they are ready to join. This class is a mix of spending quality bonding time with your baby through songs and yoga postures. After a brief intro at the beginning – we create a class based around any particular issues – targeting areas such as pelvic floor strengthening for mums and lots of twists for the tummy. Relaxing shoulders, necks, and lower backs and wrists for both mum and dad. Bella is even brave enough to attempt some parent and baby relaxation at the end which sometimes can work beautifully and everyone gets to enjoy 15 minutes of quiet time, other times it can be complete bedlam, but we have a lot of fun and laughter in the process.
Bella has completed her Pregnancy Yoga Training in her Continuing Professional Development for Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training Certified by Yogacampus led by Uma Dinsmore-tuli and Lisa White.
